Trey Jones

Hi, I’m Trey. I founded own Volkswagen & Audi focused blog in 2020 and merged it together with 8020 Automotive in 2023. I’m originally from Sugar Land, Texas and received a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Texas A&M. Prior to creating my business and joining 8020 Automotive I was a marketing specialist for Reynolds & Reynolds, crafting and managing marketing campaigns for 20+ car dealerships.

I’ve spent virtually all my professional career working in the automotive industry which is a passion dating back to my childhood. My first car was a manual Scion tC…it might not have been the fastest thing around but I put a lot of work and effort into upgrades to make it as fast as I could. I got a lot of hands-on experience DIY installing an exhaust system, intake, lowering springs, and a number of other upgrades on the tC. From there I stuck to the JDM scene and picked up a Genesis 2.0T and turned it full bolt-on with an intake, tune, BOV, exhaust system, intercooler, and more.

While I might not always be in front of the camera or writing content at 8020 Automotive, I’ve written hundreds of guides on Volkswagen’s and Audi’s and continue to leverage my hands-on automotive experience behind the scenes. At 8020 Automotive I’m responsible for marketing, helping to manage our ecommerce operations, and heading up the growth, strategy, and video production of our YouTube channel.

I currently reside in Katy, TX with my wife Michelle and our two dogs, Marlee and Oakley. Outside of work, and car work, I spend a lot of time golfing and watching Houston sports.
